Some athletes are great, others are greatness embodied. The next list includes some of the most inspiring human beings there are – those who have been unfortunate, yet chose not to dwell on it but to transform it into strength. They are at the peak of human conditioning, determined, passionate, filled with a drive to win many can’t understand, and yet some of them go so far beyond this that one is left with nothing but admiration for their sheer will to win and inspire us all.
Aron Lee Ralston
Aron Lee Ralston is an American engineer, motivational speaker, and most famously an avid outdoorsman. He survived a canyoneering accident in south-eastern Utah in 2003, during which he amputated his own right forearm with a dull pocketknife in order to extricate himself from a dislodged boulder. The film “127 Hours” is based on the experience of the now-one-armed amputee and stars James Franco.
