American novelist, satirist, and poet Erica Jong achieved fame after her 1973 novel Fear of Flying became a hit. The book became famously controversial for its attitudes towards female empowerment, womanhood, and freedom. As a result, her work has played a key role in the development of second-wave feminism. Eventually, she continued the saga with two more books.
Erica married three times before meeting and tying the knot with her current husband, David Burrows. Jong is also an LBGTQ+ supporter that has spoken in favor of gay marriage. In 2015, she published her most recent work of fiction titled Fear of Dying.
