Couples You Wouldn’t Believe Are Still Together

Pierce Brosnan & Keely Shaye Smith | 19 Years

For all of his bond charm, Pierce Brosnan is surprisingly un ladies man like. He has only been married twice, and probably only married a second time because his first wife Actress Cassandra Harris, passed away due to ovarian cancer. Luckily, he found love again.

Brosnan met his second wife, journalist Keely Shaye Smith, during an interview in Mexico, the two connected and after dating for a few years married in 2001. Their marriage is considered by many in the press, one of the happiest in Hollywood. Brosnan stars in the 2020 comedy called Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.

Bill Clinton & Hillary Clinton | 46 Years

No matter the challenge, Bill and Hillary Clinton have always found the strength they needed to stay together. They met while in college and have been inseparable ever since: they tied the knot in 1975, had their only child in 1980, and went on to conquer the world as a couple.

In 1993, Clinton became the third youngest-ever U.S. President and served for two terms. He was extremely popular amongst the American people, but his presidency was tainted by a major scandal involving an extramarital affair. In 2016, Hillary was chosen to be the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate but ended up losing the election to Donald Trump.

Mitch McConnell & Elaine Chao | 28 Years

The Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a lucky, lucky man. While his political talent is undeniable, he may be even more skilled in the arts of seduction. In 1993, he tied the knot with the beautiful Elaine Chao, an American businesswoman/politician who has recently served as Donald Trump’s U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Before, she worked as the 24th U.S. Secretary of Labor under George W. Bush.

Before tying the knot with Chao, McConnell was married to Sherrill Redmon, with whom he had three children. McConnell and Chao have been an item for 28 years now, and their outstanding political careers shine as bright as their shared love story.

George W. Bush & Laura Bush | 44 Years

George W. Bush was the 43rd President of the United States and one of the most charismatic figures in the recent history of the Republican Party. He ruled for two terms, and his tenure as President was marked by 9/11 and the subsequential Iraq War. But could he have done it all without the loving support of his wife of 44 years?

Bush met his wife Laura at a barbecue party not long after being engaged to another woman. At the time, the future First Lady was a teacher/librarian. George and Laura hit it off almost immediately and decided to get married after a short courtship period of just three months.

Ted Cruz & Heidi Cruz | 20 Years

The American politician/attorney Ted Cruz serves as the U.S. Senator from Texas, but he’s recently been under the line of fire at the Loner Star State. In 2021, he unwisely decided to take a short vacation in sunny Cancún when Texans were experiencing a harsh, wintery power crisis. The press heavily criticized Cruz’s trip.

But we guess Cruz’s good name can take a hit and still survive to tell the story. Fortunately, the Senator counts with the loving support of his wife of 20 years, Heidi Cruz. She’s a managing director at Goldman Sachs who served under George W. Bush in the White House.

Barack Obama & Michelle Obama | 29 Years

Barack Obama will go down in history as the first-ever African-American President of the United States. He served for two terms and, while he had his haters, he was considered a very popular public servant. His widespread popularity is perhaps only surpassed by his wife’s: after all, who doesn’t love the beautiful and charismatic Michelle Obama?

Barack and Michelle met in the Summer of 1989, back when Michelle worked at a Chicago law firm. After dating for roughly two years, they became engaged and finally tied the knot in 1992. They have two lovely daughters together, and they’ve recently attended Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration.

Ayanna Pressley & Conan Harris | 7 Years

The beautiful Ayanna Pressley has been serving as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Massachusetts since 2019. A former member of the Boston City Council, she’s Massachusetts’ first-ever African-American Congress representative.

Pressley lives in Boston with her husband of seven years, the consultant Conan Harris, and his stepdaughter. In January 2020, she made the headlines after being diagnosed with alopecia, which caused her to lose all of her hair. A confident and fearless political player, Pressley is a self-described “woman of faith” and an outspoken supporter of criminal justice reform.

Kamala Harris & Doug Emhoff | 7 Years

Now, this is a power couple: the first female, African American, and Asian American Vice President in U.S. history is married to Doug Emhoff, a lawyer who’s recently become the first Second Gentleman ever. While less confident men would loathe the job title, Emhoff has excelled at it: he’s a role model when it comes to being a loving and supporting husband.

Harris and Emhoff met on a 2013 blind date and tied the knot roughly one year after. They have been together for 7 years, and we expect their love story to grow even stronger in the future.

Jimmy Carter & Rosalynn Carter | 75 Years

People say marriage is not what it used to be, and they’re probably right. Back in 1946, a young Jimmy Carter tied the knot with an even younger Rosalynn Carter (she was only 19 at the time), and 75 years later, they’re still pretty much in love. Together, they’ve shared countless adventures, including Carter’s four-year term as President.

Deeply committed to Christianity, the Carters are all about having a big family. They have three sons and one daughter, not to mention twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren! At the ages of 96 and 93, Jimmy and Rosalynn are currently enjoying a peaceful retirement in their humble $167K Georgia residence.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez & Riley Roberts | 5 Years

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is arguably the trendiest politician in America, and she’s proven to be worthy of the title. At the young age of 31, she’s one of the most talked-about up-and-coming personalities of the Democratic Party. Still not married, AOC has been dating the web developer Riley Roberts for over 4 years now, even though little is known about their private life.

A man who’s not a big fan of the spotlight, Roberts is very supportive of Ocasio-Cortez and shares her interest in American politics (he was talking about ’50s tax rates when they first met). AOC has once described Roberts as an “easygoing redhead.”

Jared Kushner & Ivanka Trump | 12 Years

You may disagree with their political views, but you have to admit Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump make for a lovely couple. They met through mutual friends and quickly fell for one another. Even though they broke up in 2008, they got back at it and tied the knot with a beautiful 2009 wedding ceremony. Before meeting Kushner, Ivanka dated the investment banker Greg Hersch and the producer James Bingelmann.

Kushner and Trump enjoyed being in the thick of it during Donald Trump’s presidential term, as they were extremely close to the decision-making process in the White House. They’re said to own assets in the value of $740 million.

Melania Trump & Donald Trump | 16 Years

If you’ve watched the news at least once in the past 5 years, you’ve surely seen these two. The former U.S. President Donald Trump and the beautiful former model/businesswoman Melania Trump tied the knot in 2005 and have been an extremely controversial couple ever since. Once a show biz power couple, Donald and Melania have risen to the top of the world of politics when Trump was elected President in 2017.

While virtually nobody could’ve guessed that the Trumps would be living in the White House a decade ago, these two adapted fearlessly to the ruthless world of politics. In 2021, Trump was replaced by Joe Biden.

Bernie Sanders & Jane Sanders | 33 Years

They say nice guys finish last, but the U.S. Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, has managed to put a spin on the old saying. While he never managed to win the Democratic primaries, he’s been an active and influential political player for over three decades. Known for his progressive politics, Sanders’s been happily married for almost as long.

After divorcing Deborah Shilling in 1966, Sanders had to wait over 20 years to find real love again. He did so when he met his wife of 33 years, American social worker Jane Sanders. They tied the knot in 1988 and visited the Soviet Union the day after the ceremony.

Ilhan Omar & Tim Mynett | 2 Years

If the lovely Ilhan Omar looks different from most American politicians, that’s because she is. She’s the first naturalized citizen of African birth to make it to the Congress, and she’s been fighting to make a difference as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Minnesota.

Omar was married and divorced twice before meeting the political consultant Tim Mynett. Together since 2020, Omar and Mynett have already been at the center of a major controversy, when it was made public that Mynett’s firm had received $2.78 million in contracts from Omar’s 2020 campaign.

Nancy Pelosi & Paul Pelosi | 58 Years

Nancy and Paul Pelosi have been together for a lifetime. They met in college and married in 1963. Since then, they have managed to take care of five children and become one of America’s most powerful couples. We don’t know how they find the time, but they always seem to do: Nancy is the U.S. House of Representatives speaker, while Paul is an accomplished businessman.

Remarkably, these two are still going at it at the respectable ages of 81 and 80. Nancy has been an active public servant since 1981, while Paul continues to be busy managing his successful real estate/venture capitalism firm.

Joe Biden & Jill Biden | 44 Years

The U.S. President Joe Biden was having a rough time before meeting his wife of 44 years, the teacher Jill Jacobs. He was a widower since 1972, the year that marked the tragic deaths of his first wife Neilia and one-year daughter Naomi, both deceased in a car accident. According to Biden, Jill was responsible for renewing his interest “in politics and life.”

Biden overcame tragedy in a big way by becoming one of America’s most distinguished political players. He was chosen to be Barack Obama’s Vice President in 2009 and made it all the way to the top seat at the White House in 2021.

Rashida Tlaib & Fayez Tlaib | 17 Years

Rashida Tlaib is a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Michigan and an important figure of the Democratic Party. Born in Detroit, she’s the eldest of 14 children and the first American Palestinian to make it all the way to Congress.

In 1998, Tlaib married the very low-key Fayez Tlaib, about whom little to anything is known. They had two children together but have since separated. They finalized their divorce in 2015, and Rashida has since been described as a “single mother.” While Tlaib has been criticized for “not being Muslim enough,” she’s a woman of faith who was spotted walking into her family’s mosque in 2018.

Elizabeth Warren & Bruce H. Mann | 41 Years

A former law professor who made it big as a politician, Elizabeth Warren is the U.S. Senator from Massachusetts and one of the most outspoken American political figures of the last few decades. A former presidential candidate who never made it past the Democratic primaries, Warren is known for her incisive critique of wealth inequality and progressive political ideals.

After divorcing her first husband, Jim Warren, Elizabeth met her partner of 44 years. In 1980, she married the legal scholar Bruce H. Mann, and the two have been inseparable since. Warren has two children from her first marriage, including the businesswoman/author Amelia Warren Tyagi.

Andrew Cuomo & Kerry Kennedy | 15 Years

While this is probably not the best time to praise Andrew Cuomo, it’s fair to say the Governor of New York is one of America’s most charismatic and powerful political players right now. In 2021, he was accused of improper conduct by ten women, and he’s refused to resign despite multiple requests coming from the public and press.

We guess that’s just Cuomo: always a fighter! Sadly, though, he could not save his marriage to the human rights activist Kelly Kennedy from falling apart. They finalized their divorce in 2005 after spending 15 years together. Currently single, Cuomo has later dated the TV chef Sandra Lee.

Ben Carson & Candy Carson | 46 Years

It’s hard to argue with Ben Carson’s resumé. He went from being a neurosurgeon to become a major political player, who’s most recently worked as the 17th U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development under former President Donald Trump. A Detroit native, he’s been happily married to the author/businesswoman Candy Rustin Carson for over four decades.

Ben and Candy met in 1971 at Yale University and tied the knot four years after. They had three children together, all boys. Even though the Carsons bought a stunning Maryland property in 2001, they currently reside in a Vienna, Virginia home they acquired for $1.22 million in 2017.

Al Gore & Elizabeth Keadle | 9 Years

After serving as the 45th Vice President of the United States, Al Gore lost one of the tightest elections in history to George W. Bush. It could’ve been the end of Gore’s legacy, but it wasn’t: the Washington native picked himself right back up and became one of the world’s leading environmentalists.

When it comes to love, Gore has shown the same kind of resilience. He shocked the world when he announced he was going to separate from his wife of 40 years, the social issues advocate Tipper Aitcheson, but he found love once more in the arms of the wealthy philanthropist Elizabeth Keadle. They’ve been dating since 2012.

Sarah Palin & Todd Palin | 32 Years

We all thought it was forever, but it was not… The former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin, and her husband of 32 years, oil field production operator Todd Palin, announced their divorce in 2019. The separation was finalized in 2020, with Palin citing “incompatibility of temperament” as the reason for the break-up.

Sarah and Todd Palin have five children together, including Trig, who was born with Down syndrome. At the age of 57, the now-single Palin has been away from public office since she resigned from her role as Governor in 2009. She has since appeared on season 3 of The Masked Singer, performing as Bear.

Loni Anderson & Bob Flick | 12 Years

For Actress Loni Anderson, Fourth Time was most definitely the charm when she married Musician and member of  ’60s folk band The Brother Four, Bob Flick, in 2008. What’s most ironic about their story is that they met way back in 1963, before Anderson married her first husband.

The multiple Emmy and Golden Globe-winning actress was walked down the aisle by Quinton Reynolds, the son she adopted with 3rd husband, Burt Reynolds. Anderson also has a daughter named Dierdre Hoffman from her first marriage to Bruce Hasselberg. She and Flick have been together for 12 years.

Ursula von der Leyen – Heiko von de Leyen | 35 years

Ursula was born and raised in Brussels to German parents and is a German politician and physician who has been President of the European Commission since 1 December 2019. She served in the Cabinet of Germany for 14 years since 2005, holding successive positions in Angela Merkel’s cabinet, including most recently serving as Minister of Defence. Ursula is included in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People of 2020.

She’s married to Heiko von de Leyen since 1986, a professor of Medicine, is a physician and member of the German noble family von der Leyen. The couple has 7 kids.

Rick Harrison & Deanna Burditt | 6 Years

When you’ve been divorced twice, you may start developing a despondency towards marriage. Or, like Pawn Star Rick Harrison, you take lessons from it and try to make the third time a charm. That’s what he did when he met his third wife, Deanna Burditt.

The couple has been together since 2013, and according to them, compromising for each other is key to making marriage a success. It helps that Deanna has also been married twice before, so they’ve learned the same lessons. Pawn Stars recently finished its 17th season in June 2020. The show ran in a new, hour-long format; it’s unclear whether it will be renewed.

Tom Selleck & Jillie Mack | 32 Years

While Tom Selleck was filming the 1984 movie Lassiter, his co-stars noticed that he was going to the West End every evening to see the play Cats. One particular cat kept grabbing his attention, that was Rumpelteazer. At least, it turns out, it was the actress in Rumpelteazers suit, Jillie Mack.

They didn’t instantly marry, but Selleck did have her over to Hawaii, where he was filming Magnum PI. Mack found some work, but the two eventually married in 1987. Selleck is still one of the main cast members of the critically acclaimed drama series Blue Bloods. The 10th season finished in May 2020.

Sean Hannity & Ainsley Earhardt | 1 Year

Those of you who have known or followed Sean Hannity’s work over the years know that his marriage to Jill Rhodes ended in 2019. During that time, Hannity reportedly began to date his colleague at Fox News and Fox & Friends co-host, Ainsley Earhardt.

Although neither of them has publicly confirmed their relationship, their co-workers seem to have a different story to tell. Even though their relationship’s exact length is unknown, they’ve certainly been dating for at least a year, as they flew to Pete Hegseth and Jennifer Rauchet’s wedding together in 2020. The 59-year-old Hannity continues to host his eponymous talk show and the commentary program Hannity.
