Hana burst into the ER, her voice ringing with urgency as she called for help. To her relief, a seasoned veterinarian stepped forward, his calm demeanor and sharp eyes quickly taking in the situation. He directed Hana and Peter to place the creatures on examining tables.
But just as Hana was about to stay close, the vet held up a hand. “I know you want to stay, but I need space to work. Please wait outside. I’ll update you as soon as I can.” Hana hesitated, her instinct to argue bubbling up, but then she stopped herself. With a reluctant nod, she followed Peter to the waiting room.
