Delta Burke tried her hand at beauty pageants first before joining Hollywood. At 18 years old, she was crowned Miss Florida in 1974, the youngest ever to hold this crown in pageant history. Before being cast in her most famous role of Suzanne Sugarbaker in Designing Women, Burke starred first in the shows The Chisholms, Filthy Rich, and 1st & Ten.
Burke is now 62 and keeps herself busy these days by attending to her New York-based clothing company, Delta Burke Design, and also managing her Type 2 Diabetes that she had been diagnosed with.
