Doors opened for Sandie Shaw after she won the 1967 Eurovision contest. Before that, she had three singles on the charts, including “Puppet on a String.” Her cover of “Hand in Glove” by the Smiths got her back on the UK Top 40 charts in 1984. Shaw retired in 2013 and dived into other ventures.
She has since written rock musicals and performed in stage productions like “Ophelia” and “Saint John.” For her services to the music industry, she had the honors of becoming a 2017 Member of the Order of the British Empire. Shaw is married to Tony Bradford, her third husband, and has three children from her former unions.
