They say nice guys finish last, but the U.S. Senator from Vermont, Bernie Sanders, has managed to put a spin on the old saying. While he never managed to win the Democratic primaries, he’s been an active and influential political player for over three decades. Known for his progressive politics, Sanders’s been happily married for almost as long.
After divorcing Deborah Shilling in 1966, Sanders had to wait over 20 years to find real love again. He did so when he met his wife of 33 years, American social worker Jane Sanders. They tied the knot in 1988 and visited the Soviet Union the day after the ceremony.
