Billy had worked with horses for a large part of his life. They were beautiful, majestic creatures, and he enjoyed raising them and grooming them into magnificent studs. They would then fetch him a great amount of money when he sold them.
This time, when Billy raised the horse named Giovanni, he felt that this horse was special. Instead of selling him, as he had done previously, he decided to enter this one into a racing competition. He believed that it would change his life. And it did! But not in the way he ever expected it to. Giovanni brought him trouble as soon as he entered the competition.
Trouble on the Day of the Competition
The competition was held on a sunny day. Billy had spent the early hours of the morning meticulously grooming Giovanni. He had brushed his coat until it shone. His hooves were polished, and fresh horseshoes had been put in a few days before. Billy had found some of his mother’s old ribbons to braid into the horse’s mane.
He had walked early into the competition. First impressions were lasting, and he had to make a good one. He saw one of the members of the jury, Aaron Wright, and gave him his brightest biggest smile. In return, he was greeted with a look of worry.
