Lola had just given birth to eleven healthy pups and was understandably exhausted. As Dr. Greene worked to revive the stillborn pup, Lola slowly rose to her feet. It was unexpected since she should’ve been resting. Somehow, she knew something wasn’t right. Although it was her first litter, her instincts had already kicked in.
She walked over to where the team had gathered and gently pressed the still body with her nose. Her nudge wasn’t frantic, just a soft, reassuring touch. It was as if she was telling her baby, “I’m here. Come back.” The room fell silent, knowing that sometimes, a mother’s love does what nothing else can.
