Dr. Greene paused when he saw Lola. Her belly looked much bigger than it had during her last checkup. He quietly pulled up the X-rays taken that morning and studied them again. Something didn’t add up. He gave a slight nod to himself, then turned to Mrs. Thompson with a careful tone to share his findings.
He explained how she might be carrying more pups than expected. Mrs. Thompson’s face tightened as she caught her breath for a moment. Still, she nodded since she trusted him. The team began prepping the delivery room. Everything seemed routine on the outside. But deep down, Dr. Greene had a strange feeling this wouldn’t be a typical day.
